James Gosling

James Arthur Gosling was born May 19, 1955 in Canada.
In 1977 he started his bachelor of science in Computer Science at the University of Calgary, where he successfully completed it. In 1983 he earned his Ph.D in computer science from Carnegie Mellon University.

Between 1984 and 2010 James Gosling was working with Sun Microsystems now it has been brought by Oracle Corporation, which is why he left, because Oracle reduced the pay, status and decision making ability's of the new Sun Microsystems, in 2011 he was employed by Google, then joined a start up called Liquid Robotics five months later.


James Gosling has received many honours.
He pretty much created the Java programming language in 1994, and created the designs for its virtual machine and the compiler.
2002 he was awarded the The Economist innovation award.
2007 he was made an officer of the Order of Canada, it is the second highest civilian honour.
James was elected to be a Associate member of the United States National Academy of Engineering.


The company he is with now after leaving Google, is Liquid Robotics which makes data collecting robots. James is the Chief software Architect. The Wave Gliders unmanned maritime vehicle or UMV, are the size of surfboards and powered by sunlight; this pretty much gives them endless supply of energy, because it converts the suns enegy so that it can operate its sensors without re-fuelling, as you can see in the image below.
